Summer session for UETS Non-resident students
|
You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus, and what you have heard from me before many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.( 2 Timothy 1- 2) On July 5-16 UETS held a Summer session for our Non-resident students. As always, in addition to great courses, there were also many interesting activities.
On Saturday, July 10th, for the first time in the seminary we had Open Doors Day – a special time when people could come to find out more about the seminary, sit in classes, take a tour of our facilities, museum of Evangelical movement, etc. Highlight of the day was a special seminar on “Prevention and Care in the areas of abuses and sexual problems” by Don Schmierer, who shared from his heart and experience in ministry about helping people to heal the wounds of the past.
On July 14th students enjoyed a special Talk-show with Orthodox priest Andrey Tkachev. Students could learn more about Orthodox church, ask priest some questions and discuss possibilities for closer dialogue between Orthodox and Evangelical churches. This was a special session for 4th year students since it was their last session in BTh program. Culmination of the week for them was participation in Lord’s Supper and special picnic with UETS staff and teacher at the end of the week. In informal setting students shared how much the study in the seminary changed their life and ministry for better, gave them a strong spiritual and theological foundation and new passion to serve the church and society.
