UETS team ministry in Lviv
From heart to heart
On April 29-30 the meeting of charity Marcel Fund Ukrainian staff, which takes care of elderly and disabled people and headed by Fund President Debbie Sutton and Director in Ukraine – Yulia Anastasina, took place in UETS. UETS Rector Dr. Anatole Glukhovski and Zhitomir Bishop of Ukrainian Free Churches’ Union of Evangelical Christians Petro Zalizni, who were at the beginning of Marcel Fund work in Ukraine, took part in this meeting as well. Participants took a course of lectures regarding elderly people psychology and God’s perspective on elderly and disabled people. Co-workers from 11 Ukrainian regions had an opportunity to get acquainted with each other, spend time in fellowship, to share testimonies and work experience. It was an encouragement for everybody to get thank you letter from Fund founder Nina Nicaise, who had been serving as its president for 9 years.
Christ has arisen!
Easter week is a special time for Christians, whose eyes are fixed on the Cross these days. On April 21-27 during days of missionary raise, UETS students and staff together with New Time church team (pastor – Vadim Uruimagov) had been spending time in worship to God. Holy Spirit worked in lives of participants over physical and inner healing, cleansing, and deliverance from spiritual wounds. V.Uruimagov inspired attendees to spend more time in communication with Jesus and to submit to God in total obedience.
UETS Rector Dr. Anatole V. Glukhovski appealed to participants to give praise to God for break-through and transformation and to ask for the further guidance during Easter events. “The student is supposed to surpass his teacher in fulfilling God’s guidance on the path of evangelism for the glory of God. And that is the essence of the seminary” – he said.
There were created 13 evangelical teams from UETS students and staff, who participated in evangelical events in different Ukrainian regions during Easter days. They devoted this time to the Lord and Christ to be risen in repentant hearts.
Non-resident program final-year students on the homestretch
Spring session (April, 7-18) – is the last one for forth-year students of non-resident UETS’ programs, the last chords of which is Apologetics course (lecturer – Rev. Valeriy Reshetinsky) and History of the Evangelical Movement (lecturer - Oleg Bornovolokov). Third-year students take the baton from graduating students, obtaining knowledge on The Doctrine of Church and the Last Time (lecturer - Denisenko Anatole) and Introduction to Missions (lecturer - Ivan Rusin and Norman Bradshaw).
Second-year students had been studying Holy Spirit (lecturer - Petro Kovaliv) and Marriage and Family courses (lecturer - Dr. Brad Smith). UETS affords an opportunity of studying on non-residential program of the “Theology and Christian Ministry” and “Musical ministry” faculties. Non-resident academic programs are designed for churches, missions, Christian organizations ministers, who are willing to get high-quality theological and musical education without ministry interruption.
Partnership: new prospects
Over a period of UETS development time circle of partners and friends who participate in its ministry was formed. Each meeting with Dr. Manfred and Barbara Kohl – is a new opportunity for prospective plans widening for the future and for the skill level rise of UETS staff. Our guests, who devoted their lives to God’s ministry, got an extremely great experience of the international ministry in educational sphere. On the 31st of March Dr. Manfred Kohl, UETS Rector Dr. Anatole Gloukhovski and Vice-rector of the Transformative Leadership Graduate Program Fyodor Raychynets had a meeting where they could discuss prospects and strategies of UETS Transformative Leadership Graduate Program development in accordance with church and society needs.
During morning service our guests spent time worshiping and praising God together with students and staff. On the 1st of April Dr. Manfred Kohl met with UETS Administrative Board, discussing faith in trust and devotion to God. Dr. Barbara Kohl, who has a great experience of ministry in sexual education sphere held seminars for UETS students and staff as well as for the Grace Church (Kiev). The following topics were discussed at the seminars: “Biblical-theological foundation of sexuality”, “Sexuality and personality formation”, “Sexual education at home”, “Adolescent sexuality”. Participants could ask questions and got irrefragable and qualified answers.
New Program – new opportunities
The Vice-rector of the Graduate Program Fyodor Raychynets had a meeting with Indiana Weslyan University representatives. Dr. Vern Ludden, Graduate Studies in Leadership Chair, Dr. James Fuller, Academic dean of the program, Mike Linville, International Faith Initiatives Preside nt participated in this meeting. Our guests showed interest in UETS Master’s Program – MTL (Transformative Leadership), which starts its work this year and designed for leaders of organizations. During meeting there had been discussed opportunities and prospects in area of “Organization leadership” partnership development.
Alumnae are at the seminary again
After each graduation UETS is trying to keep in touch with its alumnae. Alumnae’s meeting is not only an opportunity to find out about ministry and private life progress and severities, but to continue communication with each other. On the 21st of March recurrent alumnae’s meeting took place, where former students had been sharing memories, telling each other about ones’ lives and ministry and planes for the future over the cup of tee.
Dear alumnus, we are addressing those of you who have lost touch with us. The seminary is waiting forward to hear from you: we would be glad to know about your progress as well as to support you during hard times.
Training for teachers
The teachers of the UETS took part in a training within the pragramm of raisisng the skill level. The training was led by Norman Bradshow who has great experience in teaching. The part-takers of the training discussed the points of setting and reaching the objectives in the sphere of Christian education.
The methods of motivation were also discussed. The teachers were very interested in organization and planning of studying process, grading criteria of knowledge and writing works of the students.
Alisa Nasarenko, UETS 1st year student:
My life is one great miracle starting from trifles and finishing with my family. I’ll share with you the small part of how I live.
Summer… light breeze is blowing outdoors… My room is staffed with books and trinkets… I’m happy… I’m speaking to Jesus… My heart is full of peace and expectation, expectation of what Creator has planned for me… I’m praying and waiting… Than, suddenly I’m conceived with a desire to leave for the seminary of which I heard two years ago. Here it is – the plan, but what if it’s just my wish and not divine intent…I pray, saying: “Dear Jesus, there is a huge desire in my heart to study at the seminary and to play flute, which I’ve never hold in my hands. If this is Your will for my life, let there be such an instrument as flute on Musical Faculty there.” I called and found out that Chris Moore the academic in piano and brass with his wife Jennifer has come to the seminary. Besides, God blessed me with financials and my grandma paid for my study and inhabitation there.
By now I’m a student of UETS Musical Faculty, I play flute, learn singing and really blessed studying here.
It’s almost spring time… flowers just about to blossom out… the wind is fondling with warmth.
I have graduation on May and still waiting as than genius plans from my Creator… (Alisa, Musical Ministry faculty student.)
Widening spheres of cooperation and boarders of evangelism
In its development UETS follows the tendencies of modern society, where one of demands is expansion of cooperation with public and business organizations as well as with Christian ones. In support of this thought UETS is developing partnership with insurance intermediary company – “Eurolife Ukraine” which had a business-training held in UETS on 12-13 of February. “Eurolife Ukraine” – is a leading Ukrainian company which product range focuses on financial provision for your family, saving and pension provision. It is a subsidiary company of OC Occident Holding AG - with more than 600.000 clients having concluded contracts through the intermediary service of the company over the last 15 years, is the leading financial service provider in Central and Eastern Europe.
The current training program contained of business lections, prayers, services, presentations of Christian literature and non-resident academic UETS program. Many of UETS staff profit by company service and cooperate with it. Alexander Antipenkov, “Eurolife Ukraine” structural director, is a partner of a “Time management” joint project, successfully held in many Ukrainian churches.
Alexander Antipenkov,
“Eurolife Ukraine” company structural director,
Jewish Messianic Religion Community member:
I have been working in “Eurolife Ukraine” since the moment of its foundation in 2000. In this company I have passed the way from the beginner to structural director of the company. Today my function concludes in team forming and their training. I’m deeply convinced that the most well-grounded training is the one that has spiritual foundation. Only spiritual knowledge based on Bible could become a pledge of stability and successful work.
I’m glad that we have an opportunity of joint projects with UETS and I see great prospect in further development of cooperation between UETS team and “Eurolife Ukraine”. To follow Christ – is the essence of life, and business just one of its composites. I’ve never separated business from conception and life as it is. For achieving success in business and life it’s extremely important to be able to manage with different factors. We can learn to achieve it from One who created this world. That’s the only way to gain genuine knowledge.
“May all creatures sing”
The Worship Night at UETS
Ukrainian Evangelical Theological Seminary is always open for representatives from different Denominations and Unions on its territory. “The Worship Night” that was conducted on February 2nd gathered together representatives from different churches of Ukraine and from abroad, such churches as “God’s Embassy”, “Salvation”, “Christian Hope”, “The new time church”, “Victory”, “Tabernacle”, “Bethany”, “Reconciliation”, “ICA” etc.
The “Worship night” began with warm and kind fellowship with cup of tea in the atmosphere of joy and happiness. All around were decorated with candles what creates an atmosphere of peace and calming. In the beginning and on the end of the night all participants were united in worship God singing the hymn “All creatures sing”.
The aim of this night was to stimulate and encourage believers to renew their relationships with God and to take the decision to burn for Christ, in spite of any circumstances, pain and anxiety they may face in life.
Anya, the worship leader shares: “We are so grateful to God for the opportunity He gave us to make such wonderful worship night! Our life is so changeable, the days of our life could be bright or glumly, we have difficult and blessed times but in spite of these we have a deep desire and dream to worship God from all of our hearts in Spirit and in truth and to unite Christians with this dream. We know that we will not be able to live without it!”
Village forsaken by people but not by God
Marcel Fund’ is UETS’ partner: students, staff and graduates of the seminary participate in its work.
Working in 11 Ukrainian regions this Fund supports invalid or aged people who are not able to visit churches. The Fund staff makes all efforts to bring God’s love and care to houses of invalid and destitute ones. Nowadays, this is a very relevant issue for Ukraine, because the percentage of aged people is extremely high, and unfortunately many of them live in severe conditions.
On the 24th of January another trip to Tuzhar village of Chernihovska region, where Fund works, took place. This village is located not far from Chernobyl and a lot of people consider this place to be godforsaken. I want to disprove this opinion! Our team of 5 found keen pleasure in being witnesses of God’s work in lives of inhabitants. A moderate church where missionaries and graduates from seminary work, in particular – Alexander Bohdan and Maxim Timofeev, welcomed us warmly with love. We could worship God together, share our testimonies and after the fellowship had an opportunity to visit invalid people who get support from the church.
Each of us was design by God in such way that despite our social position and age we need support from others. And the most significant blessing we can get as people – is communication and fellowship which enriches our life! It’s important to be opened to others, support those who need us and to remember words of Jesus: “…love one another; even as I have loved you, that you also love one another.” John 13:34.

Keeping up to date

Permanent moving forward is a demand of a modern life. It applies all spheres of human life. Christian education is not an exception. 160 ministers from Ukraine, Russia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Moldova and Hungary once decided to extend their knowledge in theological field at UETS. They know like nobody the necessity and importance of knowledge. During this winter session from 15th till 25th of January first-year student has been studying “God and Bible” (lecturer – Anatole Denisenko) and “New Testament Survey” (lecturer – Petro Kovaliv) subjects; second-year students – “Church History” (lecturer – Oleg Bornovolokov) and together with third-year students – “Church Growth Principles” (lecturer – Rev. Vasiliy Raytchynets and Rev. Dr. Grigoriy Komendant); third and forth course - “Pastoral Theology” (lecturer – Rev.Sergey Flugrant) and forth only – “Biblical Management” (lecturer- Rev. Cooperation with local churches is part of our vision and something UETS strives for. UETS educational trainings on leader development consist of three courses: Time Management (“Wise Time Management”), Gift Management (“God the Holy Spirit in life and ministry”) and Finance Management “Wise Finance Management.” These sessions are aimed at developing the skills of church ministers.

The UETS team with Dr.Anatole Gloukhovski has already had seminars for Ukrainian ministers in a number of churches and on the 17th of December visited Lviv to hold Gift Management training (“God the Holy Spirit in life and ministry”), in which ministers from Lviv took part.
During training participants discussed such subjects as “Spiritual Growth” (Dr. Anatole Gloukhovski); “The Work of the Spirit in re-Creating the Image of Christ, its Trinitarian Foundation and the Principals of Discerning the Work of the Spirit” (Petro Kovaliv); and “Ministry and Spiritual Gifts in the Church” (Efim Fingerman).

We thank “New Generation Church” and its pastor Alexander Zhuk for a warm welcome, partnership development and participation in UETS ministry.

Christmas Eve Party
Every year UETS workers, students and families are invited to a Christmas Party. The annual event took place on UETS’s campus on the 21st of December. We enjoyed having amazing fellowship at a festive table. Everyone could join in student jokes and discover new talents of both students and workers.
Christmas Extravaganza
On Christmas Eve a team of UETS Music Department teachers together with the international project “Revelation Ministry” visited Salvation Church in Vasil’kove to perform scenes from the musical Christmas Extravaganza. How exciting to see the Gospel spreading not only through preaching but works of art!
Concluding UETS’ staff meeting
On the 28th of December, UETS’s staff gathered for a meeting, where they could thank God for His guidance and blessing through 2007. UETS rector Dr. Anatole Gloukhovski thanked all of the staff for their work and greeted them with the coming New Year and Christmas holidays. No celebration can be held without surprises: Every employee got a present.
Seminar in Krivoy Rog
UETS rector Dr.Anatole Gloukhovski and UETS Communication Department Manager Efim Fingerman were invited by “New Generation” church, Krivoy Rog (city), to hold the Time management seminar “24 Hours with Jesus” on January 4th-5th. Over 100 church members considered the following issues: “Time and Eternity,” “Spiritual and Professional Growth,” “Life in Rhythm with Jesus,” “Ten Commandments for Time Management,” “How to Stop Wasting Time,” and “Personality Development.” This seminar was aimed at gaining a better insight into time, its meaning, and gaining a biblical perspective of it, as well as looking at time management.
Anna Usenko, UETS 3d year student:
Three years has passed since I've started to take part in short-term missionary trips of the "For these little ones" team to the towns of the Autonomic Republic of Crimea.
This mission serves orphans, holds Evangelical programmes at schools, kids gardens, clubs and on the streets.
During this period of time I have participated in the projects that took place in about forty villages of the Belogorsk Region and in six orphanages of Sevastopol city and Kerch city.
Our team organizes special projects for children which include songs, sketches, interesting competitions, lessons about God.
God opens doors for the Gospel to Muslims - to children as well as to adults. In Belogorsk, we serve in an orphanage for mentally retarted children. God does amazing things there, changing them before our eyes. The educators became more disposed towards us, especially those who participate in our pragrammes.
I want to thank God that He gives us opportunities to testify in the orphanages of the Kerch city. When I communicate with the children I feel that they are those who give love - not me. They need love and acceptance very much. Once a child told me, "Ania, you can't love all". i realised that I couldn't hug everyone, or pay attention to everyone of them. Nevertheless, I know that Jesus can! He can give a hug and to comfort everyone. He has enough time for everybody!

Each academic year in UETS introduces its new changes; there is an unstoppable adjustment of educational process for making the most effective and available education at the seminary. On the 5th of November a new academic year took its start for the non-residential department students. It was especially exciting for those who entered UETS and had a meeting with members of entrance examination. Session is not only intense academic working days, but a lot of meetings and communication, many friends and new impressions.
First-year students have started to study “Research skills” and “Hermeneutics”, second-year students – “Introduction to Christian counseling” and “Counseling”, third-year students – “History of Orthodox Church” and “Gospel of John”, forth-year students – “New Testament Theology” and “Books of Wisdom in Pastoral Ministry”. The most recent innovation is three-year program “Musical Ministry”.
Godspeed!
In keeping with the tradition of students who graduated from UETS in the past, a graduation celebration was held on Saturday, September 8, 2007, in the chapel. With hymn ringing and hands applauding, UETS graduates followed Rector Anatole Gloukhovsky and the faculty into the chapel. Graduates and staff, pastors, ministers and guests from Ukraine and abroad, gathered to celebrate the achievements of 39 young ministers who completed their studies and are now ready to go into full-time ministry.
These young men and women have not chosen an easy way, and our dear friends Vasily Raichinets, the Chairman of UETS Advisory Board, Dr. G. Horn and Dr. K. Swetland from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, W. Armerding (Overseas Council Canada), G. Sutton (College Park Church, Indianopolis, USA) shared some insights with the students and guests.
They encouraged students to fulfill God's calling in their lives, even though it will have some very challenging and difficult times. Vladimir Gloukhovsky, honored Bishop of Free Churches Union, Dr. G. Komendant, President of Ukrainian Bible Society and Dr. F. Savochka prayed for the graduates and asked for God's blessings upon their ministries. Now that the graduation ceremony is over, the seminary will continue preparing a new group of young men and women to go out and work in God's fields. We look forward to hearing from the graduates, to share in the joys of their ministries, and stand ready to support them when hard times come
Festival of Hope
Christopher and Jennifer in Ukraine
Christopher and Jennifer Moore arrived at UETS on August 16 and are excited to be on campus throughout the coming school year. They were sent by College Park Church in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA to strengthen the partnership, form relationships with students and staff, and to help in the English and music departments.
The two met at Butler University where they both were blessed to study and earn their Bachelor degrees. Christopher received his degree in Music Theory and Composition. His main instrument is saxophone, and he likes to listen to jazz, classical, and experimental music. Jennifer received her degree in English Literature and Creative Writing and enjoys a variety of classical and contemporary literature and poetry.
Both of the Moores have been in Ukraine before. Jennifer taught high school English for two years with the Peace Corps (an American organization that sends volunteers of varying specializations to nations around the world) in the town of Ul’yanovka in the Kirovograd oblast. During her first stint in Ukraine, Jennifer learned to speak some Ukrainian.
Christopher has been on two short trips to Ukraine in the last few years. In August 2005 he came to visit Jennifer for two weeks in Ul’yanovka and got a small taste of the culture of the area. During this trip, Chris and Jennifer first visited UETS. In July 2006, Chris came back to Ukraine with a Vision Trip from College Park Church to work on the seminary grounds, meet UETS staff, and observe the ministries in and around Berdychiv.
They are both praying that God will give them wisdom and grace to serve the seminary in the coming year, as well as direction concerning the possibility of going into full time ministry in Ukraine.bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb
“Youth Line” Unites Ukrainian Youth
July 23rd through August 1st, 2007, UETS hosted participants in “Training 180”–seminars for “Ukraine 180” project, aimed at preparing and encouraging leaders in youth ministry. “Youth Line” ministry coordinated the event because of their vision to help Ukrainian young men and women to become a generation who believes in God, in their God-given gifts, that they have future, and that they can bring changes in Ukraine. The application of “Ukraine 180” is to create youth clubs called “Club 180”, where young people can learn the importance of making positive decisions in life and be supported them in their right decision. Participants had the opportunity to study 2 different classes, which included these topics: Inner Formation, Principles of Work at Schools, Genuine Worship, Search for God, Mentorship in Secular Environment, Social Youth Paradigm, and Personality Types. A few of our experienced teachers were: Sergey Suknenko – sociologist; Sally McLennan, youth pastor of the “Hope Central Christian Centre” (Australia); Andrew Bondarenko, senior pastor of the “Renovation” Church (Krasnyi Luch city); and Natasha Sobetska, a training coordinator. Everyone enjoyed a blessed time of gaining new knowledge, making new interesting acquaintances, being spiritually encouraged, experiencing creative inspiration, and hearing a variety of new ideas to use in their ministries.
Equipping Children For The Revolution

Our children are the future of our nation. Individual growth, personal maturity, and fundamental Biblical morality are the basics of a successful future for Ukraine. The work with children is one of the most important realms of present-day church ministry! Aimed at developing a new generation with an affirmative self-image, assertive positive goals and aggressive Biblical priorities, well-trained ministers are needed for encouraging success in this new generation.
On July 16-21, 2007, a seminar for Sunday School ministers called “Equipping Children for the Revolution,” was held at UETS’ campus. It was a joint project of UETS and God’s Assembly in the USA. The seminar’s leader – Lesley Masters, is a professor with expertise in Old Testament and children’s ministry, and is also children’s ministry pastor. Since 2005, she has been a missionary, working for the development of children’s ministries in Ukraine. More than 30 ministers from Ukraine, Crimea and Russia learned theological foundations as well as fundamental basics and styles of children’s ministry. Together with Lesley, participants learned about the makeup of a child’s soul. They discussed difficulties that take place in their ministries and shared experiences. Participants learned new and creative teaching methods and ideas, they made crafts, and played games. The special methods Lesley used in leading this seminar promoted an open and friendly environment, so that the things learned were effective and unforgettable.
On July 6-8, 2007 Ukraine saw a miracle and saw the dream of the previous generation to come true. Festival of Hope with Franklin Graham was held at the biggest stadium in Ukraine . Our staff, students and graduates were active volunteers who gave their time and strengths to help and make this event happen. Dr. Anatole Glukhovsky, UETS Rector, was on the Organizing Committee; Ivan Rusin, Dean of the Non-Resident Program was in charge of all counselors; and Igor Bobrik led the group of volunteers from the Seminary who served as team leaders for counselors and counsel people who came for the alter call. UETS provided facilities and computers to process new converts cards during the night. All three nights there were more then 30 young people working on the cards information and putting in the data. For that time UETS campus became a camping place.
We were able to accommodate 70 people extra (taking into account that non-residential students were there) and feed over 100 people extra every day. Our kitchen worked 24 hours nonstop. The most important that everything was done in the spirit of love, appreciation and mutual understanding that it was not about us – it was about the Kingdom of God .
One distinctive feature of the Festival was the showering rain (sometimes with hale). The greatest witness to the world was that so many people (thousands) gathered with dedication at the stadium to glorify God and listen to His message of hope. We praise God for the Festival of Hope and we are grateful to Him for salvations, for every single soul and for changing spiritual atmosphere in Ukraine .
College Park Team visit to UETS
The partnership between Ukrainian Evangelical Theological Seminary and College Park Church in Indianapolis ( Indiana , USA ) is in its seven th year already. Many members of College Park Church have become spiritual parents to sixty UETS students. Although we are separated by many kilometers our relations has grown stronger with each year. Thanks to this partnership/support our students are able to pursue their academic degree and get effective practical experience in ministry. It is not just about pure numbers but about relations.

There are friendly and sometimes family bonds between students and donors; in their regular letters and emails they exchange about their life achievements, joys and hardships. They lucky ones get a chance to meet each other which makes the relations more special.
“Adopt a Student” is a partnership project of UETS and College Park Church and Debbie Sutton is a coordinator of it. On June 30 –July 10 she led a team of nine women from College Park to Kiev , Ukraine . They came at the very special time for Ukraine due to Franklin Graham Crusade (July 6-8). Their eager to serve not to waste a minute of their stay encouraged us a lot. Along with Julia Anastasina, Marsel Fund coordinator, they visited babushkas in Kiev and made a trip to Berdichev ( Zhitomir area) with the same purpose to visit and encourage elderly and lonely people.
As donors the team really wanted to meet sponsored students and see them, hear their stories and spend some time with them. CPC women put on a special meal (furshet) for the students and enjoyed Ukrainian-American fellowship. Unforgettable was their ministry at Reconciliation church and Philadelphia church; time that they spend with local women was an encouragement and blessing for both sides. Women from College Park served at Franklin Graham Crusade as volunteers along with UETS team in cleaning the stadium. By the end of their trip everyone can testify that our lives have become richer through the fellowship in God's love, sincerity of the hearts and joy in the Lord.
New meeting at the foot of the Caucasian Mountains
Bringing the Good News to the Muslim world is one of the thrusts and motivations of the Ukrainian Evangelical Theological Seminary. Recently on June 13-20 th Ivan Rusin, UETS Missionary Department Director with his UETS mission group went to one of the muslim countries of the former Soviet Union that is strongly opposed Christian nation. Our team had fellowship with the local people, told them about Ukraine, about Christianity and Christian ministry. It was a great blessing for them to meet the missionaries and local Christians who live and work there.
They are harshly persecuted for their faith. Those short-term trips are preparing the way for long-term mission commitments and more deep and serious ministry in this country. Plese join with us in intercession and prayer for this nation. As we believe for further missionary trips and necessary recources that would enable this to be possible.
ffTime is changeable and limited

On June 7-8th Master in Church Administration Program of Ukrainian Evangelical Theological Seminary presented to UETS staff and christians from local churches the training on Biblical management “Time-management: 24 hours with Jesus Christ”.
The idea of holding such trainings belongs to the UETS Administrative board which completed an agreement not only to discuss daily problems but to seek God's presence for 24 hours in fast and prayer.
A lecture God of Eternity of Rev. Norman Bradshaw was the fundamental topic of that training. The UETS Rector Dr. Anatole Gloukhovsky analyzed stages of Earth's life of a man. Victor Gouley, a specialist on management of organization explained factors of wrong understanding of time and priorities, disclosed phenomenon of “time-predators”.
T here was also a time for a round-table discussion, where participants debated about importance of forming comprehension of time and its management from little up, also a pastoral day planning and an old age maintenance question.
As a continuation to Biblical Management there's going to be held the second training on the Gift Management called “24 hours with Holy Spirit” (27-28 September 2007).

Comments of participants
German Smirnov (deacon), Church of Evangelical Christians , Boyarka town:
“I visited training in search of special knowledge in management and planning. And I didn't expect such a strong spiritual constituent. God in extraordinary way opened new truths to me . It was wonderful. And this form of immersion in combination with such a mighty resource as Holy Spirit, gives a great result.”
Natalya Gulvinskaya, (children ministry leader) “Home for all nations” church, Nezhyn town:
“The church needs teaching and knowledge in organization and ministry management sphere in Lord's standards. It ' s great and extremely important course . Because of Biblical Management foundations ignorance, not only ministries at churches get wrecked but humans' lives as well.”
Vladimir Buliuk (prayer ministry leader), “Home for all nations” church, Nezhyn town:
“The participants in this training became a great blessing for me. My comprehension framework of God was broken. The Lord doesn't have any boundaries, He is God of Eternity! We can and we need to comprehend Him in all spheres of our life. The practice forms your heart and shows reality of God waking. I recommend all to visit these trainings.
COMMISSION SERVICE – BLESSINGS OF THE GRADUATES
June 2 nd became a special day for the UETS students and staff, twenty five 2007's graduates of Residental programs and their parents. The service of dedication of 2007's graduates for their ministry gathered them for a united prayer of the thankgiving to the Lord and blessing of the graduates. The majority of residential graduates of this year, are already determined the place of their ministry. Three of them, Oleg Nesvirskiy, Nikolay Zalizniy and Igor Broding, combined their training at the Seminary with Pastoral Ministry in their churches. Dr. Anatole Gloukhovskiy, UETS Founder and Rector, reminded all participants of the importance of preaching the Gospel in the life of a minister and called the graduates to devote themselves fully to the Lord. Very symbolic was the fact that the prayer for young ministers was carried by such experienced pastors as Anatole Gloukhovskiy (Reconciliation Church), Sergey Flugrant (Tuburnacle Church) and Vadim Uruimagov (New Time Church ).

Radical – means determined!

The International youth conference was a special time for UETS' team. It was held in Polish city Wodzislaw Slaski. The “Radical” conference became an encouragement for the youth in devotion and ministry to Christ, it strengthen determination in daring to serve and praise Him with own deeds.
About 500 participants had a great opportunity to worship God together, to attend seminars of Australian ministers Russell Evans and James Macpherson, Glyn Barrett (England), and Zibi Marcek (Poland), to spend evenings in communication with youth form different countries and in worship with musical band “Audacious”.
SIGNIFICANT EVENTS OF APRIL, 2007

The studying process at the UETS is never on a break and undependable on seasons of the year. The start of the holidays for resident-program students is the start of the study for non-resident program students. 165 active ministers from Ukraine, Russia and Central Asia are students of UETS' non-resident program. From 8 th till 20 th of April they had a spring session.
This year it was preceded with a wonderful celebration of Christ's Resurrection and with one more important event – on the 4 th of April UETS' Rector Anatole V. Gloukhovsky upheld a thesis-project in Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary for a Doctor's degree in Ministry on the following topic: “Leadership development for the church in Ukraine. Second in command: the misinterpreted ministry of the Executive Pastor.” He dedicated this project to his father – Vladimir S. Gloukhovsky – the minister of many years experience, who has always been an example of faithfulness to God, selfless serving, and support to his son on the way of his academic growth. On the 18 th of April during morning service students, staff, and guests congratulated UETS' Rector.
This session non-resident program students had following subjects:
1 st year - Intro to religion and cults (Ivan Rusin);
Homiletics (Rev. Sergei Flugrant).
2 nd year - Marriage and Family (Dr. Bradford Smith, USA );
Holy Spirit (Paul Gorbunov).
3 rd year - Acts of Apostles (Dr. John Erickson, USA );
Church Growth Principles (Rev. George Halik, Australia ).
4 th year - History of Evangelical Church (Rev. Oleg Bornovolokov)
Apologetics (Rev. Valeriy Reshetinskiy)
Let us wish our 4 th year students to finish successfully their bachelor's degree projects!
UETS Mission project

One of the areas of major activity at UETS is missions. We preach the word of God in Ukraine and abroad. For three years we have been serving in one of the Muslim countries of the former USSR (we do not name the name of the country, in order not to cause persecutions). Earlier this month, our team went to this country. We had fellowship with the local youth, told them about Ukraine, about Christianity and Christian ministry. It was a great blessing for us to meet the missionaries and local Christians who live and work there. Those short-term trips are preparing the way for long-term mission commitments and more deep and serious ministry in this country.
In word and deed
Ukrainian Evangelical Theological Seminary is partnered with the charity organization called “Marcel Fund” in Ukraine. The Marcel Fund looks after disabled and older people. This year, the Fund took responsibility over two more villages, Tuzhar and Kosachivka, both in the Chernigiv region. Those villages are called hopeless because they are situated within 30 kilometers from the Chernobyl power station
Only old people live there. A few years ago, part-time students at UETS, Maxim Timofeev and Alexander Bogdan worked together to start a ministry in these villages. Now more than 30 people from Tuzhar village attend the church service in their village with pastor Alexander Bogdan, and pastor Maxim works in Kosachivka. His wife helps him with taking care of the old people. Recently the director of the Marcel Fund program, Julia Anastasina, went with the team from UETS as they visited those churches for the second time. They brought some gifts – large font Gospels and audio Bibles on tapes. The Marcel Fund brought them some food and clothes and also four tape recorders in order to enable people in a village to listen to Bible. But the most precious gift was the attention and care shown by our ministers.
Developing relationships with churches

The mission of UETS is to train church ministers who will be able to serve people in the church, and in other Christian organizations. This is why it is impossible for the UETS to exist without cooperation with the local churches.
Recently the UETS team went to the east of Ukraine – in the city of Lugansk. We were able to take part in a youth conference, outreach projects and gave a concert.
Mission Week in Ukrainian Evangelical Theological Seminary

The Resurrection of Christ is the event of great importance, and always takes a big deal of preparation – including spiritual. That is why the UETS organizes pre-Easter Mission Week every year – with special services, fellowship and evangelism. This year we were blessed by the ministers of Life in Christ church (the city of Kremenchuk ) with its pastor Nickolay Ezhov. Time we spent together reminded us of God's love and true Christian values – such as responsibility of every Christian before Him in his calling. UETS students and staff members took part in outreach projects of Ukrainian churches. The Easter became a great blessing for all of us.
UETS THROUGH THE EYES OF IT'S STUDENTS:
Sergey Khvalov, 4 th year student:
UETS showed me an opportunity to look at things from another point of view, different than I perceived them before. To live and to study with other students who have their own characters and views on life – means to test yourself and to see who you are for real. I might say that life at the seminary is like litmus paper, which little by little brings to light things that fill your heart! While studying for 4 years at the seminary, I've become more tolerant regarding other denominations, which is lacking in our contemporary churches. And it's not a problem for me to accept Catholics, Orthodox and other genuine Christians in other movements as co-workers in God's field anymore.
In a special way God touches and changes characters, if only you trust yourself in the Master's hands and let His will come into your life. Seminary doesn't change people, it gives young people an opportunity not only to receive precious knowledge and education, but also to find themselves and clarify values and views as individuals. It helps in becoming mature and in gaining the ability to live in a worthy Christian manner and to learn how to love and to serve others. I'm glad that 4 years of my life were spent here, where I've built a firm foundation for my future life and ministry.
Ad discendum, non ad dicendum*

Distinctive features of UETS educational process is that there full-time and part-time teachers in faculty who have great experience in ministry. Partnership with Salvation Church and its Pastor Philip Savochka is a big blessing for the Seminary. Pastor Philip teaches “Principles of Church Growth” to the first, second and third year students this semester. Ministry of Pastor Philip is an example of devoted ministry to God and people and inspiration for future leaders.
UETS students were invited to visit Salvation Church where they learned more about their ministry, management and structure; and also they visited “Father's House” children orphanage which was founded by Salvation Church . It became a real home for many street children
*Not to study, but to be taught.

Dear UETS friends and partners,
As we celebrate Easter may you be blessed with Peace and Happiness!
Easter marks a new beginning. May it be the dawning of new hopes and joy in your heart.
May the fragrance of the Lord's Love fill you with desire to spread sunshine and brightness and do good to all around.
Jesus is Risen!
Rejoicing with you in the wonders of Easter,
UETS Rector, staff and students.
“Leadership 2007” opens new opportunities
On the 30 th of March UETS' staff-members of Communication Department (Vice-Rector E.Fingerman) participated in the “Leadership 2007” conference. This conference was organized by the “International Mentorship Program” – the Indiana Wesleyan University International and Faith Initiatives partnership project. Participants took up such important topics for the contemporary leader as: leadership, styles of management, vision significance and education significance for leaders. The insight with already tested principals and strategies in management process, on which production and goal achievement of departments and organization in the whole depends on, became very relevant for the UETS' staff.
Communication Department gives thanks to Conference organizers for invitation and opportunity to take part in the conference.
A new project has been started at UETS!!!

Early March, Ukrainian Evangelical Theological Seminary was honored to greet Vice President of International Development of Overseas Council International Dr. Manfred W. Kohl, who has always been a mentor to the UETS' Communication Department from the very foundation. Our guest shared his experience in PR & Fund Raising. UETS' staff could ask different questions on building fund-raising projects and, strategy development. As a result of the meeting, a new project “UETS' Computer network Renewal” appeared. The topic is relevant due to a current situation. Dr. Manfred Kohl and UETS' staff became first participants of the new project.
If the Lord encourages you to participate in it, please, join us.
“A sound mind in a sound body”
That's what we learned while living under Soviet rule. The Bible teaches us the opposite: a sound body in a sound mind. However that may be, a body and a soul should exist in harmony. As evidence to the fact that there is a sound mind at UETS, the compact gym was opened in the men's dormitory. From now on, students will have an opportunity to be “in shape,” working out at the gym. Because of combined efforts from students, administration, and sponsors, we have the wonderful testimony of unity and understanding between students and administration. It was proved again that whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.
LEADERS IN STUDY

There was a special time at the UETS when all of 165 non-residential students came for the winter session. Representatives of 16 Christian denominations and independent churches were grasping knowledge in auditorium during last two weeks. First-year students studied “Christian Ethics” (by the Chairman of UETS Board of Council – Vasiliy Raichinetz), “God and the Bible” subject (by Anatole Denisenko); second-year students learned “Research Skills” (by Pavel Gorbunov) and sequential part of the “Church History” subject (by Oleg Bornovolokov). Third-year students gained more of ministry knowledge in “Research Skills” and “Introduction into Missions” (by Norman Bradwhaw). “Biblical Management” (by Anatole Gloukhovski) and “Pastoral Epistles” (by Sergey Flugrant) were taught to the forth-year students.

Denominational difference was not an issue on chapel service. On the contrary, students and staff received great blessing on the 17 th of January through the sermon of successful and progressive leader and Kharkiv Christian Center pastor – Peter Kovalenko. He spoke on faithfulness importance in a life of every Christian. His word found genuine response in hearts of students among who were pastors, deacons and leaders of various Ukrainian and Russian churches.
Partnership development with churches and Christian organizations is a vital aspect in UETS' strategic vision. The evidence of Christian union was shown through the communion among students and staff on the 25 th of January.
Time has proved the relevance and importance of further potential and working key-leaders training development. That is why UETS has been working over the “Master in Church Administration” program for the last few years which was also presented in the context of the “Biblical Management” subject (by Anatole Gloukhovski).
One more important event happened last week: presentation of newly published book “Comments on Pastoral Epistles” which was written by the “Theological and Christian ministry” program dean – Sergey Flugrant.
PRAISE AND WORSHIP CONFERENCE IN UKRAINIAN EVANGELICAL THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY

There is a special bridge between God and the human heart, which is connected through Praise and Worship. And it's hard to imagine what a mighty power is unleashed when worship leaders are gathered together! Recently, about 100 representatives and teams from various churches and denominations from all regions of Ukraine took part in a Praise and Worship Conference.

This conference was organized by UETS' musical ministry, faculty and Dean – Natalia Khomenko, professors Sergey Zakatiura and Irina Fialko, in cooperation with UETS' Communication Department (Vice-rector Efim Fingerman) and in collaboration with “Christian Hope Church” Missionary Department (director Valeriy Alymov). The conference featured the popular Christian author and performer Valeriy Korop, along with the worship team of “Holiest Sanctuary Church” under the direction of Christian composer Oleg Mayovski (Pastor Sofia Zhukotanskaya), “Salvation Church” ministers – Nadezhda and Vasiliy Kondratiuk (Pastor Philip Savochka), “City of Light Church” worship leader Juriy Galis (Pastor Dmitriy Mason), “Victory Church” minister Viktor Bednyi (Pastor Henry Madava) and “God's Embassy Church” minister Alexander Klauning (Pastor Sandey Adeladzha) served for those who were present at this wonderful Conference. Some of the topics offered in seminars to the participants were: “The union for Vision Fulfillment”, “Tabernacle Restoration”, “Music in Christianity”, “Ministry and Family”, “How to Become a More Effective Leader”, “The Art of Creating Songs”, “Dancing in the Church”, “Singing”, “Arrangement and Orchestration”, and “Techniques and Sound.”

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Christmas is a time for a special gathering at UETS, which unites students, staff, and alumni and their family members. It's a time when, despite being the end of the semester for students, and staff having to finish up their work for the year, all of them gathered together for the Christmas party. Our students showed all of their talents and achievements. One special event of the evening was a Christmas skit. The students provided many funny, ridiculous incidents in seminary life, which we can recall and laugh over. Nothing passed by the all-seeing eye and all-hearing ear of our students. And what is Christmas night without caroling? We have so many reasons to be thankful to our God.
In the beginning was a dream…

That's how it started. Some students had a dream – a dream to praise God with live music using their gifts and talents. In 2005, the idea of a UETS Worship band was spoken and came into reality, uniting faculty and students. The heart of the band is not to promote their abilities but to exalt the Lord above everything else. The UETS Worship band debuted at one of the students' chapels.
The first worship ministry was developed at “Grace” church in Kiev , pastored by Dmitry Bulakh. Step by step the students developed their talents and polished their vocal and instrumental skills. In the first year of their existence, they went through many light and difficult trials, but they've learned a lot from the battles they had to fight.
We are thankful to God for opening doors before the worship band and leading the way for them to serve in many Christian congregations of various denominations, cultures and different regions of Ukraine . Once again it encourages inter-denominational fellowship among churches, as it is lived out on the campus of Ukrainian Evangelical Theological Seminary.
Spiritual renewal, tears of healing, joyful faces and answers from God are the visible fruits of this ministry. We are grateful to Efim Fingerman, spiritual team mentor and Director of UETS Communication and Fundraising Department. Thanks to his prayers, efforts and mentoring, those in the bands have been strengthened and encouraged to go forward and trust God as they minister in the churches. We wish them further growth and development in their ministry and new projects, and many blessings from God!
A Challenge to Ukrainian Youth
“Time for Real Changes has Come!” It was under this motto that the joint project of Canadian youth organization “Global 180” and youth ministry “Youth Line” (UETS) began. November 11-25, 2006, a program called “Change Your Life,” was presented in 19 schools in Dnipropetrovsk and Kiev by combined Canadian and Ukrainian teams.
This energetic presentation consisted of live music, performances, video, and personal testimonies from Canadian university and high-school students. The aim was to encourage Ukrainian youth, to motivate positive choices in their lives, and to show teenagers that they are the future of Ukraine and that it's possible to gain joy and fullness of life without using alcohol, cigarettes and drugs. Teen parties, organized for high-school students, attracted them to come and made them listen with interest. We believe that the seeds of Truth that were sown into these young men and women will result in changes in the way they live.

Forum “ Theology in Evangelism ”

The “Theology in Evangelism” Forum has become a special event in the area of developing relationships between educational institutions such as Ukrainian Evangelical Theological Seminary, Kiev Christian University, Zaporizhiya College and Seminary, and Donetsk Christian University. On November 10-11, about 300 representatives of those institutions, among whom were their rectors, professors and students, gathered in the chapel at UETS campus in Pustcha-Voditza. Anatole Glukhovski – UETS' Rector and the President of Ukrainian Biblical Society -- made a grand opening of the Forum. He mentioned that in spite of the fact that participants are representatives of different denominations and unions, they are united by God's Word, prayer, unity in praise and worship to the Lord.

The mission of this Forum was the analysis of relations among institutions of theological education, churches, and society. Representatives from institutes of theological higher education gathered for communication in order to develop a theology of evangelism and missions, and for cooperation in common projects for the cause of spreading God's Kingdom in Ukraine and abroad. Among Forum participants were also guests from Russia, Canada, Germany and Middle East.
Among special Forum guests were: S. Sannikov – Executive Director of Eurasian Accreditation Association, who gave a talk on “Theological Education as a Church Mission”, Vice-President of Overseas Council International – Dr. Manfred W. Kohl – on “Theological Education as the Motivational Force of Evangelism,” and V. Raichinetz – the UETS Board of Coucil Chairman and Superintendent of the Ukrainian Free Churches' Union of Evangelical Christians – on the subject “ The Biblical Foundation for Evangelism”. Concluding remarks addressed to participants of the Forum were made by the Superintendent of National Associated Unions of Evangelical Baptist Christians – V. Shemchishyn. Forum participants sang the hymn of unity “How Great Thou Art.”
Dmitry Bednarsky,
2nd year student, Missionary Ministry:
I believe it!
Right now I have a ministry in the district center – Derazhnya. The vision of our team is to plant a new church there. I'm grateful to God that those people who walked away from the faith have started to come back, and new people are joining us as well. My assistants are maturing, gaining experience, and in many respects are doing fine without my help. I have often heard such words: “It will not work. You are not able to change these people”. We had no outside support, but I was and continue to be sure that God can do miracles even when you are not expecting them to happen.
I want to mention areas of importance in my ministry:
1) Mission (calling ) without a calling from God, there is no sense in starting anything. A lot of people who don't have this calling start ministries, but experience dissatisfaction because they are doing it in their own strength. Sometimes I had been thinking of leaving my ministry, but the gentle voice of the Holy Spirit spoke to me again and again, showing me His will and confirming it with a special peace and a gift of faith.
2 ) People (co-workers) who walk beside me in ministry and my love for them . I'm far from being a perfect leader and sometimes I make mistakes, but I have learned how to love people around me. This is something that helps us to be a real team and forgive one another's weaknesses.
3) Love for my nation . With a heavy heart I look at my former friends and others who are broken by the hard life and morality of this world.
I am deeply convinced that God is looking for people who are ready to leave their own views and visions - because our flesh wants to bring honor to itself—and give their lives to something far greater, because the Spirit is longing for God's glory. It is impossible to create something from nothing, but not for our Creator. And if we contribute what we have, something great can happen! I believe it! Even the salvation of one person is a great deal to our God. Everything in this life has its price, but the price of human salvation is incomparable. Let's pay it today!
Embracing the Hope
Our hearts along with the many others in Ukraine responded to the challenge of Revival Centre and as a result on October 10-13 2006 UEST faculty, students and administration participated in Evangelism School which is a part of National project of “Hope Festival” with Franklin Graham. God is calling us to proclaim salvation news and join the movement of spreading the Gospel in own cities, towns and villages. It coincides with UETS vision which is to prepare and train leaders (ministers) called my God for effective ministry in the Church and society. UETS student receive knowledge not only at their classes but also at Christian seminars and conferences. Evangelism School seminars helped students and faculty to get deeper understanding of the Good News concept, importance of the purity of a minister, peculiarities of ministry to own generation and planning and running of evangelistic meetings. Anatole Glukhovskii, UETS Rector and President of Ukrainian Bible Society taught a seminar on “Evangelism among intelligentsia”. This topic is very relevant for Ukraine and spirituality of the nation.
Welcome to UETS

The partnership between Ukrainian Evangelical Theological Seminary and College Park Church in Indianapolis , Indiana , USA is in its sixth year already. Many College Park Church members are spiritual parents for sixty UETS students. They support thstudents in their education and training in practical ministry by praying for them, and, in spite of the distance between them, the sponsors are aware of all their achievements and difficulties through letters the students write to their sponsors.

Debbie Sutton, member of College Park Church in Indianapolis and coordinator for the “Adopt a Student” project between UETS and College Park , arrived on campus October 5. During her visit she met with students and listened to them share their life, talk about their training for ministry, and plans for ministry upon graduation. This was a special event at UETS because every student received a wonderful present-a warm knitted scarf, made by her daughter, Elizabeth. Debbie stayed with Aleksey and Olga Zabelin, UETS graduates, who are pastors in the Zhitomyr region now. Debbie fellowshipped with many staff and faculty at UETS, and went to encourage and pray for babushkas with Marcel Fund organizer, Julia Annastasina. She went to the “ Ark ” orphanage with Oksana Gorbunova, the first student that Debbie and her husband, Gary, sponsored through College Park . On the second weekend of her trip to UETS, Debbie went with her current student, Taya Dukhvinskaya, to speak with her youth group and to enjoy Sunday services in churches in Borispyl and Shashnikov.
Christian Radio Talks about Christian Music
Everyone has an opinion about styles of worship music within the church. Recently, this issue became the main topic of an interactive conference on Emmanuel radio with the Dean of Music faculty member, Natalia Homenko and a member of the UETS worship team, Anya Mykoliuk, who is also a student in the non-resident program at UETS. Art and music are important expressions for every believer. When we come to a knowledge of God, believers must do our best to be sure everything we read, watch, listen to or use in our worship reflects our faith and wholeness in Christ. The role of creative arts, music in this instance, is in the very foundation of the Christian life. God looks for those who will worship Him in Spirit and in Truth, and it is our responsibility to ask ourselves a question: What is the place of the music in Christian life? What songs should we sing and listen to in our spare time? In church? At home? The truth is one in the same because music should bring wholeness as it accurately expresses God's truth We all have been given specific gifts and talents from God, and when we face His presence, our hearts start beating in unison with His Spirit. Our music program at UETS is designed to give “technical” musical skills, but also to widen our mindset in Christian culture and to know more about what Bible teaches about praise and worship.
Graduation - 2006!!!

More than 300 teachers and students, graduators and staff members of the UETS, church ministers and guests from Ukraine and abroad gathered in UETS chapel in September 16 for the official Graduation Ceremony. 47 ministers got the diplomas and degrees in Theology. Among them there are the first seven Bachelors of the UETS non-resident program.
Anatole Gloukovskyy, UETS Rector : “The Seminary is not just an academic process, but also a spiritual; progress that allows us to strengthen ourselves in faith, ministry and God's call. This is an opportunity for harmonic development of body, soul and spirit. For knowledge is only the beginning of the way, because knowledge must be followed by understanding and knowledge. This brings understanding and wisdom given by God . One of the very important factors is our faithfulness which is a real challenge to our generation – faithfulness to call, to church and God”.
Vasily Raitchinetz, Superintendent of the Ukrainian Free Churches Union : “UETS staff members tried to fill its students with truth and holiness, gave them good water, ready to be drunk. What really matters is not the form of a cup but what is inside”.
Valery Rodionov, non-resident program graduator, pastor of the Ark church, Kremenchuk : “UETS became an important part of my life. Our ways are strongly connected. Studying in the UETS bring total revolution in our brains, gives us new knowledge and friends. And it is great to have such a holidays though I am so sorry to say good bye to old friends”.
Tatiana Pakhomova, Music Department graduator : “we all are one church of Jesus Christ . The seminary is a great bridge between various churches and denominations . We worship our God with many ways, but we are one in spirit. And I envy other students – they will study in the UETS this Academic year. ”
It is a good tradition to have graduation in September when the first year students start their studies. The graduation passed, and the Seminary will keep its activity on God's field, always looking forward to hear from its graduators and being ready to support them when times get tough.
…and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit

The First of September has gone, summer is behind and hard working days are waiting for us – with all the tests, exams and research papers. That is why all the students and staff members of the UETS need spiritual and prayer support so hardly. Such a base for all the next Academic year is traditionally provided with Spiritual emphasis week
It was a great privilege for us to share those days with pastor Alan Mayer, the speaker of the Hillsong Conference, and his wife Helen. In September, 14 to 16, a special Conference took place. Its topic was “Fellowship of the Holy Spirit” (2 Corinthians 13:3). This conference became a great blessing for UETS students and staff members, ministers from many Ukrainian churches. Because of such a great possibility UETS students and graduators, church pastors and leaders had enough time to spend in prayer and reflection on the Word of God. And also – in fellowship with each other
