Supervised ministry, formation, and placement team helps students of Ukrainian Evangelical Theological Seminary prepare for a lifelong career in ministry.

Real ministry experiences are an essential component of the education that Ukrainian Evangelical Theological Seminary provides to its students. With this in mind we partner with various churches that provide valuable hands-on internships for our students as they pursue God’s call on their lives.

For the past half a year UETS music major students, Serhiy Kharchenko and Inessa Herman, theology majors, Emil and Mykhailo Kuchurian, have been actively involved in ministry to internally displaced people at Light of Ukraine Church in Kyiv. Under the supervision of Volodymyr Zolotov, UETS’ internship coordinator, they gain valuable ministry experience by putting into practice the knowledge obtained at the seminary.

According to the senior pastor of this relatively new church, Serhiy Guts, God entrusted them with the ministry that Jesus Christ proclaimed in His Nazareth sermon: “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor” (Luke 4:18-19).

‘More than 500 needy people come on the weekly basis to hear God’s Word and receive food packages. 380 of them attend our three Bible Schools, where Bible stories come to light, inspiring people to live by the Lord’s commandments.

The contribution of UETS students to this important ministry cannot be overstated. Our music students lead people in worship. Serhiy Kharchenko, for example, performs a solo each Friday. Emil and Mykhailo Kuchurian preach to people who have found themselves in tough circumstances without a means to provide for themselves.

‘I am really grateful to God for this opportunity to serve God along with my students. It helps them to strengthen their Christian beliefs and develop needed ministry skills. It is also a privilege for them to serve alongside faculty,’ Volodymyr Zolotov said.

In this way Light of Ukraine Church has provided UETS students with experience according to their ministry specializations in worship, theology and Christian Ministry. The goal of these internships is to provide an immersion experience in which students can take significant leadership in their areas of specialization.
