On May 13-15, 2021, the Ukrainian Evangelical Theological Seminary held its 7th Music In Worship Conference. Since 2015, when the first Music in Worship conference was held on UETS campus, it has turned into an international event, which has yet again proved its relevance to worship leaders, instrumentalists and singers from all over Ukraine.

Unlike the previous year, when the conference due to the Covid-19 pandemic and all the extenuating circumstances around it was move to an online format, this year, with the national lockdown over, the most of the participants and speakers were able to gather alive, though taking all necessary precautionary measures.

Scores of valuable topics that worship teams should be engaging with were addressed during the conference, with focus on demands, challenges and lessons of the pandemic.

This year, apart from long-standing friends of the seminary, Fred Heumann (MusicWorks International, USA), Dr. Steven Brooks (WorshipQuest, USA), Dave Silber (Nexus Institute of Creative Arts, UK), Dr. Jeremy Perigo (Dordt University, USA), Rob Still, the international team included new speakers, namely Dr. Nancy Nethercott (IWS Global Renewal of Worship Center) and Luke Gambill (Lee University Campus Choir), who joined remotely.

They all delivered great teaching during plenary meetings, numerous seminars and master-classes. The same can be said about their Ukrainian counterparts, Maryna Yarmolenko, Myroslava Smetaniuk, Kateryna Simchuk, Andriy Hryfel, Andriy Yavorskyi, Oleh Bohomaz.

All online speakers said that they would rather have been there in person, but, taken the circumstances, were thankful for the virtual platforms that made their ministry possible.

Music in Worship Conference has been a vital part of the ministry of the UETS Department of Music for the last seven years. It is aimed at equipping worship leaders, musicians and singers to embrace God’s truth about worship and champion a biblical worship worldview. Pray, please, for good fruit to remain from seed sown through seminars, classes, conversations, prayers, relationships.
