The Department of Music Ministry aims at improving the qualifications, skills and theological literacy of music ministers in order to strengthen the Church and transform society.
Students develop their specialties (vocals, musical instruments, conducting, sound engineering), theory of music, applicable harmony, instrumental and vocal arrangement, music writing using computer software (Oblithon, Logic), and develop the character needed for fruitful ministry.
The curriculum meets European standards and the ministerial requirements for training specialists in musical arts. Each subject makes use of ECTE assessment criteria.
To improve students’ competence, deepen their spiritual growth and expand their worldview, UETS has established partnership with institutions and organizations from the UK, Finland, USA and other countries. In particular, the Department of Music Ministry actively exchanges experience with educational institutions abroad, such as Nexus Institute of Creative Arts (UK), London School of Theology (UK), and The Webber Institute of Worship Studies (USA).
Apart from the abovementioned institutions, UETS cooperates with renown experts, producers and performers, such as Fred Heumann (producer, minister and musician), Rob Still (song writer and author of the course Writing Original Songs), Nina Åström (Eurovision contestant, performer and evangelist), Steve Thompson (minister at London City Gates Church, producer and arranger, and president of Beracahmusic Ministries International).
The Department of Music Ministry holds an annual Music in Worship conferences attended by leading music ministry experts in the world.
