Dr. Barker founded the ministry “Urban Neighbors of Hope,”which he led and directed for over 20 years, including living and ministering in the slums of Thailand and Australia. For the past five years, Dr. Barker has ministered in Birmingham, England where he directs the Newbigin House, runs the Newbigin School for Urban Leadership, and works for the International Society for Urban Mission. He is on the faculty of Springdale College and is the author of eight books, including Make Poverty Personal, Slum Life Rising, and Risky Compassion.
